2024 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Round 2 Preview

As last night’s intense Game 7 between the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars came to an end, the first round of the 2024 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs has come to an end. As we move into the second round, we have some amazing matchups that will present amazing hockey, with old rivalries being renewed, a Canadian battle, and the top two teams in the league going at it. Let’s preview and predict the Second Round of the 2024 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Eastern Conference

M1 New York Rangers vs M2 Carolina Hurricanes

Prediction: Rangers in 7 

I have the Rangers beating the Hurricanes in 7 games. The Presidents Trophy winners moped the floor with the Washington Capitals and with them winning game 1 vs the Canes last night, I think the Rangers will win the series. It will be a hard-fought series that will go down to the wire, but with the stars in New York shining and Shesterkin making his typical incredible saves, I think the Rangers will pull it off and win in Game 7.

A1 Florida Panthers vs A2 Boston Bruins

Prediction: Bruins in 7

We have a highly anticipated rematch from last year’s dramatic series between the Florida Panthers and the Boston Bruins, and I think the Bruins will get their revenge in 7 games. The Bruins came off a Game 7 win 2 days ago vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs and are hopping right back into action tonight vs the Florida Panthers, who took care of Tampa quickly. The Panthers have had their rest, but I think it will get to them as the Bruins have been on the ice playing intense games longer in these playoffs, which I think favors them. Bruins win in another Game 7.

Western Conference

C1 Dallas Stars vs C3 Colorado Avalanche

Prediction: Avalanche in 6

This series is going to be electric. After the Stars took out Vegas in Game 7 and the Avalanche dispatched the Jets in 5 games, both teams are looking ready to go. I think the Avalanche come out on top; I feel the high-end scoring, depth, and defense will out-match the Stars and win in 6 games. Dallas is not ready for a series with the Avalanche, who are hungry for another cup.

P1 Vancouver Canucks vs P2 Edmonton Oilers

Prediction: Oilers in 6

The Battle of Canada, the Vancouver Canucks vs Edmonton Oilers. After how the season series went, this matchup is what Hockey fans were hoping for. The Canucks surprised everyone by winning the Pacific Division and sweeping the season series vs the Edmonton Oilers, but playoffs are different. I think with the Oilers top-end talent and the playoff arrival of Evander Kane in these playoffs will be too much for the Canucks to handle. Oilers in 6.
